Uganda has registered her 16th Covid19 death, the Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced.
He had been admitted at a private health facility in Mbale after he presented with symptoms consistent with Covid19.
He passed on at the Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
Meanwhile, Uganda has recorded 53 new Covid19 cases, according to results from tests done on August 18.
Of these, 35 are alerts while 18 are contacts of previously confirmed cases.
A total of 28 alerts are from Kampala, two from Wakiso and two others from Amuru, while the rest are from Buikwe, Buvuma and Soroti.
A total of 10 contacts are from Kikuube, five from Kampala, while the rest are from Masindi, Busia and Wakiso.
The country’s cumulative infection toll now stands at 1,656.
Some 1,188 of these have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.
