The Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Gen Caleb Akandwanaho aka Gen Salim Saleh, has paid renowned artist Emmanuel Suuna aka Omulangira Suuna for an advert for OWC and not the song he composed to promote government’s wealth creation campaigns.
Gen Salim Saleh recently trashed OS Suuna’s song at a public event in Gulu. “Musicians have failed to make music; they can’t even make good music,” said Gen Salim Saleh.
“The truth is, ‘you have sung nothing. Don’t you have our wealth creation musicians?’ If you want to leave, leave.”
Now, writing to the presidents of UNMF and UMA in a handwritten letter attributed to him, Gen Salim Saleh said he had decided to pay OS Suuna $3000 for his work as an advert for OWC and not a song.
He went on to tell all musicians interested in doing work for OWC to look at existing songs. He also urged them to consider the advertorial work of OS Suuna.
Gen Salim Saleh further explained that the issue that angered him was that he had given OS Suuna a script which he failed to follow. He also said singers should listen to the songs of the competitions on OWC in 2017.
As part of efforts to end kwetega, Salim Saleh told off begging musicians point blank. (See Details Here).
