Yoweri Museveni’s government has told Ugandans and the world to ignore the contents of X posts by first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Information Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi says the posts attributed to Gen Muhoozi on the DR Congo and Sudan are simply “comments made on social media casually” and “privately.”
Minister Baryomunsi has also made it clear that the contents of X posts by Muhoozi’s do not constitute “the official position of the UPDF or the Ministry of Defence or Government of Uganda.”
In Minister Baryomunsi’s view, Muhoozi’s X posts should “be treated as casual comments.” He added that Ugandans and the world should not be anxious about the first son’s posts.
Gen Muhoozi has attacked opposition politicians, his father’s advisor and foreign nations in his recent online comments. His comments have prompted a demand for an apology by Sudan, and a counter response from Bobi Wine. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
Meanwhile, a war of words has erupted between Dr Kizza Besigye’s wife Winnie Byanyima and Museveni’s top UN diplomat Adonia Ayebare over Muhoozi. (See Details Here).
