Ntungamo-Mbarara road accident
At least three people were killed in Ntungamo-Mbarara road accident. Six others were injured in the same fatal crash that occurred in the afternoon of June 12, 2025.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Michael Kananura, the Community Liaison Officer and Public Relations Officer of Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety in the Uganda Police Force (UPF), the 3pm accident happened at Rucece along the Ntungamo-Mbarara Road.
SP Kananura further noted that the accident involved three vehicles: a Fuso Fighter registration number UBF 727S, a Toyota Wish registration number UBL 839Q, and a motorcycle registration number UFF 926Q.
He went on to say that preliminary investigations indicated that the Fuso Fighter and the motorcycle were both traveling from Ntungamo towards Mbarara.
“The Fuso attempted to overtake the motorcycle, knocking it in the process,” he added.
“The driver of the Fuso subsequently lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and veered into the opposite lane, where it collided with the oncoming Toyota Wish.”
Three people died on the spot. The trio who lost their lives were all in the Fuso Fighter.
The six people who sustained injuries, including included the driver of the Fuso Fighter , three who were in the Toyota Wish as well as the rider and a passenger of the motorcycle.
“All the injured were rushed to Mbarara Referral Hospital for treatment and bodies conveyed to the same hospital’s mortuary,” noted Kananura.
The traffic police spokesperson called for responsible road use to reduce on the number of accidents happening across the country.
“We urge all motorists to observe speed limits, avoid reckless overtaking and drive with caution and consideration for other road users,” said Kananura.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility & such incidents can be prevented through responsible driving.”
