SIGN OF THE CHOSEN ONE? This Strange Thing Happened the Moment Bobi Wine Was Introduced by Kasule Lumumba at Namugongo Martyrs’ Day Celebration

A good number of Ugandans are superstitious. And some are making interesting interpretations out of the coincidence witnessed the moment Justine Kasule Lumumba introduced Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine, the singer, politician and National Unity Platform (NUP) president.

A staunch catholic, Bobi Wine was the most high profile opposition political leader at the Namugongo Catholic Shrine as the country observed Uganda Martyrs Day, marked every June 03, to celebrate tens of young Christian converts killed on orders of Buganda King Kabaka Mwanga for disobeying him and choosing to embrace religion.

The day is not just key for those passionate about religion but also great for those who understand the marriage between politics and religion and how they can tap into it for political relevance and capital. Little wonder that politicians from different aisles of the divide usually attend the celebrations at Namugongo.

Interestingly, after being driven in posh vehicles, they get front and comfortable seats while those who walked hundreds of kilometers sweat in the congestion that the shrines are normally. Never mind that we are all supposed to be equal before God! (That is a debate we won’t be going into soon).

Anyway, Bobi Wine received a thunderous applause from the pilgrims gathered at the Catholic shrine the moment Kasule Lumumba introduced him.

Another strange thing happened: it began raining after the opposition politician was introduced and as Lumumba concluded the introduction of political leaders.

Lumumba, the Minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and former Secretary General of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), interpreted the rain to mean some cleansing.

“When I was introducing the political leaders, the rain [came] meaning we are all now sanitized as political leaders,” theorized Lumumba.

“Praise God! The Uganda Martyrs have now come to say we all leave this place different people spiritually.”

Some people interpreted the rain to mean that Bobi Wine was Uganda’s chosen leader, and perhaps Museveni’s divine chosen successor and, according to them, someone the Uganda Martyrs were pleased with.

Whether this was a mere coincidence or a sign, the future will tell.

Last year, during the burial of former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, an almost similar thing happened when a strange wind blew away the tent where his casket was, leaving some theorizing about what this meant regarding the cause of death of the former speaker. (See Details Here).
