On November 29, former Busongora South MP Jackson Mbaju Kathika led a group of people he claimed were members of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Kasese District to cross the Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP).
But hours after an elated Bobi Wine welcomed Mbaju as a big fish from Kasese’s FDC camp, the facts whirled before the NUP principal.
First, Mbaju was not a member of the FDC since May 2019.
He ceased to be a member after Kasese FDC Chairman suspended him and three other errant MPs. Some of them were said to be working closely with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Of the four suspended Kasese legislators, three refused to apologize and they were expelled from the party. They stood on other parties’ tickets or ran as independents.
Mbaju ran as an independent in Busongora South and lost.
His campaign symbol was a clock, not a key — the FDC official symbol.
