Besigye Will Be Hanged in Gulu on Heroes Day – Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba

Ugandan opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye will be hanged on Heroes Day 2025 in Gulu, a poster running the X (formerly Twitter) account associated with Ugandan first son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has indicated.

In two of the posts sent through @mkainerugaba, a handle for Gen Muhoozi who had been off the microblogging site for a few days, the claims on the fate of Besigye, President Yoweri Museveni’s fiercest critic in his nearly four-decade grip on power, were put out to the world.

Before he took a break from X, Muhoozi had hit one million followers but he returned to a far less followers. In the posts on Besigye, Gen Muhoozi recalled that the veteran opposition leader had previously labelled him “a clown and a coward,” but then revealed that his critic and his father’s challenger in four presidential elections will be hanged in northern Uganda this year.

After the hanging of Besigye – if it ever happens – Gen Muhoozi says, it will be woe unto those who “ever spoke ill” of his uncle Gen Caleb Akandwanaho aka Gen Salim Saleh.

“Dr. Kizza Besigye used to call me a clown and a coward. The tree of traitors is waiting for hím in Gulu,” read a post on an X account in the name of Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

“We will hang KB [known initials for Kizza Besigye] on Heroes’s Day. That’s the best day for him to die. After that we will arrest ANYBODY who ever spoke ill of Afande Saleh in government!”

It should be remembered that Gen Muhoozi has previously threatened to cut of the head of Bobi Wine, another opposition politician, as reported Here.

But for Besigye, he is currently before Museveni’s military court. He faces charges of treachery, undermining security and illegal possession of firearms. (See Details Here, There and Over There).
