First son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has written a heartfelt birthday message to him uncle Gen Caleb Akandwanaho aka Gen Salim Saleh, a fierce former bush war combatant.
Gen Salim Saleh, arguably the most influential of all President Yoweri Museveni’s brothers, has turned 65.
Gen Muhoozi has over the years tweeted about how much he loves his uncle Gen Salim Saleh and how fearless a soldier he is.
In his message, Gen Muhoozi, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) said the army looked at Gen Salim Saleh as a model of brilliance, courage and sacrifice.
He also termed Saleh’s service as that of a hero.
“General Saleh, on behalf of all the officers and men of the mighty UPDF, I wish you a very happy 65th birthday. For us in the UPDF, you remain the most perfect example of courage, military brilliance and sacrifice,” wrote Gen Muhoozi.
“We thank Almighty God for your heroic life of service to Uganda and Africa. You remain without doubt one of the greatest heroes of our army and nation.”
On a personal note, Gen Muhoozi said Salim Saleh was his role model. He wished him more success and good health.
“For me personally, this day has extra significance. I am especially blessed that you are my beloved uncle. A great man that I have always looked up to. Thank you for teaching me what true love of country, service, dedication and leadership means,” he added.
“God grant you abundant joy, good health, continued success and another 65 years on His earth. God bless you and happy birthday Afande!”
Gen Salim Saleh has previously revealed how Gen Muhoozi saved him when Museveni wanted to throw him in prison. The first son has also revealed that Gen Salim Saleh once told that the people he killed are waiting to welcome him to heaven. (See Details Here and There).

Salim Saleh is also one of the most powerful Museveni advisor, and is considered by some to be more powerful that the vice president and ministers. Gen Salim Saleh is also said to be a fearless general with potential to remove Museveni if he wants, according to a previous report. (See Details Here and There).
